History of the 81st by Chuck Wrobel

Just
so you can pick this historian out in a crowd, here are some pictures
of cheerful Chuck Wrobel. As you can see from the picture on the left,
he's been smiling for over 50 years!
As evidence(?) that Chuck was a qualified(?) cook, and was smiling at the time, check this out:
This
81st Pin came over from Moses Lake, Washington on the USNS
Maurise Rose, to RAF Bentwaters, sailing on August 29, l951. This
was the big sailing of the main group for the 81st - thus
of interest to those Yanks. I still have the pin in my possession.
QUESTION:
What is this PIN, was it AF approved ? Does anyone know anything
about it? My contacts to date, haven't had a nibble from anyone
over at Shepherds Grove other than it is the 81st Crest (described below). Best regards, Charles
An alternative source of great detail on the history of the 81st can be found in the Book by the late Stu Stabley.
