Linn Barringer's comments on this
video:
This video is the personal work of Norman
Rose, an "ordinary Suffolk bloke" who spent almost his
entire working life at Bentwaters. You may know Norman from his
work in building and civil engineering projects at Bentwaters.
He witnessed the very first aircraft arrive, unexpectedly, one
Sunday evening in 1943. It was a battle-damaged American Light
Bomber, unable to reach it's base in Essex.
Norman had a dream which he has now
fulfilled - to ensure that the history of RAF Bentwaters and the
people from the RAF and USAF who served there are recorded.
Norman has gathered together early maps,
WW2 film, his own interviews of RAF and USAF people and woven
them into a warm and friendly account of the entire history of
Bentwaters, taken at "Suffolk speed." For
the 2002 revision, Norman has added more aircraft flying sequences.
