A
big thank you to the American Airmen serving at Bentwaters
at
the time of the East Coast Floods in 1953.
A number of airmen by this time had settled in rented cottages in the local villages and towns. It must be said that a number of the airmen contributed to rescuing and generally assisting, especially the old folk. The base also offered a good deal of help; food, blankets, and fuel.
All went along way to comfort those caught out as the cruel sea took over so much of our habitable land.
A big thank you to those Cousins of ours for coming to our rescue once again.
