Leaving Jolly Old England

This is the van they used to clear out the contents of the house. I spoke to Wiley on the telephone awhile back. His wife Anne runs the antique shop in Leiston. Real nice couple. Wiley is another Yank that never returned to the Colonies.

September 1993. Leaving for flight home at RAF Mildenhall. Daughter Donna is the one who worked at the Bag Nasty on Bentwaters. Yum! Yum!

We stopped off here for a cuppa. We were on our way to Gatwick to get flight back to Denver. The weather was very cold and miserable as you can see from the snow.

Would you believe this? This is Brentwood, just before reaching the M25. It is less than 2 miles from where I worked at Ford for 28 years! Just think, I was within a mile or two of someone I would "meet" a few years later, on the internet. If I was not at work, I was STILL within 3 miles, as we lived in Brentwood.

And in March 1999, I took this shot, while driving back from Gatwick to Bentwaters with Glenn Martin. We stopped for break at the Brentwood Little Chef.

This bridge is down near the Dartford Tunnel, I think. You probably know more about where it is at than I do.

Yes, it's the Queen Elizabeth II (QE2) bridge at Dartford.  The Thames crossing at Dartford started with one two-way tunnel, then a second tunnel was added, one each way, and finally the M25 was taken over this new bridge. Two tunnels northbound, one bridge southbound.
It is the first crossing on the River Thames, upstream from the English Channel.
So you can say you've been on the QE2!

This is a little memorial garden planted in memory of Mr and Mrs Ling of Snape. The neighbors like English girls with green thumbs. The 1985 Camaro is Granny's Hot Rod!
