Dan and Mrs Aycock
| March 2000 Linn: Well, We got to Woodbridge but failed to make contact with you. We had a pleasant ride on the train to Ipswich, then a nice bus ride to the main bus stop in Woodbridge on Friday the 3rd. It was after 1300. I shortly thereafter discovered I had left your phone number in my bag in London. We did the next best thing. Got a taxi to Woodbridge base, looked around a bit, took a couple of photos then left. It was a little emotional for me. We had a good informative discussion with the driver. He was from the taxi company right at the railway station. His dispatcher had a difficult time understanding that we just wanted to go to the base then have him return us. She had to ask several times to make sure she heard correct. The driver was very nice. Pass it on if you get a chance. We went across the street from the station to the little pub (the Anchor) and had great sandwich and 1/2 pint of bitter. They were very pleasant people there also. Got a picture out front of the pub. Got the train back to Ipswich which connected immediately with the one to London. Never got lost the whole trip. Surprised my wife. She was sure we would end up on the wrong side of the country somewhere. Really sorry I didn't make contact (couldn't find a telephone book either. Don't they place them in the kiosks anymore?) [No, they don't, due to vandalism - Linn B.] It was a brief stay but it was enough. We were in London for four days and had a great time. Decided we needed another week. The rest of the tour of the continent also went very well. Best wishes |
